Riverland Fire and Safety is a family owned fire protection maintenance and training organisation working in the Riverland and Murray Mallee area.
They started over 20 years ago when Mike Philpot, owner and founder started servicing fire equipment in the Riverland. Over time Mike has expanded his team to now include himself, 3 service technicians and Nicole in the office.
Riverland Fire and Safety provide the following services
- Fire protection maintenance including portable equipment and fixed systems (fire pumps and sprinkler systems)
- Fire training
- Confined space training
- Height safety training

Why Did They Sell
Mike decided it was time to retire early after a health scare, major health crises make many of us re-evaluate where we are spending our time.
We have been using Mike and his team to service our state and national clients with facilities in the Riverland area. Alan and Mike have known each other for nearly 10 years through their involvement with FPA Australia.
When Mike was looking to sell the natural synergies and common culture of our two organisations made the sale and subsequent merger easy and harmonious.
All of the staff employed by Riverland Fire and Safety have retained their employment, even Mike will be doing some work as our trainer.
What does this mean for Riverland Fire and Safety Clients?
If you’re an existing Riverland Fire and Safety Client in the Riverland and Mallee region then the change will be negligible. Your service technician will remain the same, the staff in the office will remain the same, the prices will remain the same.
The only real difference will be that if you need a quotation to resolve a major fault you will talk to Alan instead of Mike.
What does this mean for FESSA clients?
This merger means that through our 3 trading names we can service most of the populated areas of SA using our own service technicians. This gives us the largest coverage with our own staff of any South Australian owned fire protection company!
Our trading names and service areas are:
- Fire & Emergency Services SA (or FESSA) servicing greater metropolitan Adelaide including Fleurieu Peninsula, Adelaide Hills, Murray Bridge and the Barossa Valley
- Riverland Fire and Safety servicing the Riverland and Murray Mallee areas
- YP Fire and Safety servicing the Clare, Burra and Yorke Peninsula area.
